The Miles Robinson Jersey Lineup

On 7 May 2022, playing for Atlanta United, Robinson ruptured his left Achilles tendon. He had started six World Cup qualifiers. He watched Qatar from home.

Four years later he walked out at a World Cup on his own soil, the first active FC Cincinnati player ever named to a United States squad for one, and then the first to start a match for his country while at the club. That is what the 12 on the back of these shirts is about. Not a highlight. A four-year detour that ended in the right place.

From Arlington to Cincinnati

Robinson is from Arlington, Massachusetts, in the Boston suburbs, and he took the unglamorous route. He played youth football for the Boston Bolts, the oldest club in the state, rather than the New England Revolution academy. He went to Syracuse, led them to the NCAA College Cup semifinals as a freshman, and was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

Atlanta United drafted him, and he spent seven seasons there, twice making the MLS Best XI. In 2019, he played all 34 league games and set a club record for minutes by an outfield player.

He left as a free agent in January 2024 for Cincinnati, where he has been an All-Star in both of his first two seasons and now occupies one of the club's three Designated Player slots. MLS teams rarely spend a DP slot on a centre-back. Only two did in 2025. Cincinnati thinks he will still be one of the league's best defenders into his thirties.

The Goal Against Mexico

His breakout moment for the United States came at the 2021 Gold Cup, where he started every game, played every minute of six matches, kept five clean sheets, and then scored in the 117th minute of the final to beat Mexico. He was nominated for U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year on the back of it. Since the Achilles he has come back through the 2024 Copa América, the Paris Olympics, where he played all 360 minutes, and the 2025 Gold Cup.

The 2026 Kits: Stripes and Stars

Both designs are stocked with his nameset. The home, called Stripes, is a Sail base cut with wavy red bands drawn from the 1994 kit worn the last time the United States hosted, finished with custom Stars and Stripes number fonts. The away, Stars, is a deep obsidian with a star pattern engineered into the fabric and metallic silver on the crest, numbers and Swoosh. These are the first U.S. Soccer kits co-designed with direct player input from start to finish, after the squad pushed back on the 2022 designs.

The Match Authentic builds use Nike's Aero-FIT, which opens and closes mesh zones across the shirt for airflow, in a slim cut with a heat-applied badge at $205. The Stadium home is $130 in a relaxed fit with the crest sewn on. For the full range including youth sizes, see the United States World Cup 2026 collection.

Going Back

The 24/25 Match Authentic away is the sash, revived from the 1950 shirt worn when a United States team of part-timers beat England at a World Cup. Further back, the 22/23 Authentic Match away is the Ice Dye in bright blue, recreated from a genuine ice-dyed shirt. Robinson should have worn that one in Qatar. He never got the chance, which is exactly why some people want it.
